NANAIMO — The mid-island’s Paralympic champion will be back on home soil Wednesday.

Michelle Stilwell will touch down at the Nanaimo Airport at 2:15 p.m. and the public is invited to welcome her home.

The Parksville-Qualicum MLA won gold in both her 400-metre and 100-metre races, while setting a record in the 100M.

In total Stilwell has six paralympic gold medals, five in racing and one in wheelchair basketball.

At Monday night’s Parksville council meeting the city declared this Friday as ‘Michelle Stilwell Day’.

The 42-year-old has not ruled out a return to competition at the next Paralympic games in 2020 in Tokyo.
