UPDATE: Christmas Day B&E suspect turns himself in to Nanaimo RCMP

Jan 3, 2019 | 8:51 AM

NANAIMO — After intense social media scrutiny, the young man suspected in a Christmas Day B&E turned himself in to police.

Nanaimo RCMP confirmed 20-year-old Justin Redmond Feusse surrended to police on Thursday, hours after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

He faced two charges of break and enter and theft for both allegedly stealing gifts and stockings from a Stonewater Dr. home while the family was asleep upstairs as well as a break and enter in January 2017.

RCMP Cst. Gary O’Brien said police made the Christmas Day robbery “priority number one over the holidays” which quickly led them to Feusse.

“We also believe he may be involved in other break and enters throughout Nanaimo in the last several weeks,” O’Brien said. “We don’t have any indication he’s responsible for them, but we believe he’s still active in the community.”

Feusse pleaded guilty to theft under $5,000 at provincial court in Nanaimo on Nov. 26, 2018 and was given one year probation.

O’Brien said the public was very helpful in the short time after being made aware about the arrest warrant, informing police Feusse is apparently often seen at Woodgrove Shopping Centre and in the north end.
