NANAIMO — A man wanted in connection to a heinous murder in Toronto was found and arrested in Nanaimo after being pulled over for not wearing a helmet.

RCMP Cst. Gary O’Brien told NanaimoNewsNOW Kyle Antonio Dias, 19, was noticed by officers riding a mountain bike without a helmet off Prideaux St. near Barsby Park on Friday, March 15.

The officers checked the bike, which was reported stolen from the area several days before. Dias was arrested for possession of stolen property and taken to the Nanaimo RCMP detachment, where officers realized Dias was being sought by Toronto police.

Dias was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for second-degree murder in relation to a fatal shooting in the Toronto suburb of Etobicoke on Feb. 13, 2019 which left a man dead outside a townhouse complex with multiple gunshot wounds.
