Care providers call for B.C. seniors’ advocate to step down and review of office

VANCOUVER — British Columbia’s seniors advocate is defending her record after the B-C Care Providers Association called for her resignation yesterday.

The association is accusing Isobel Mackenzie of being too “cosy” with the Hospital Employees’ Union and called the province to conduct an audit and review of the mandate of the Office of the Seniors’ Advocate.

The association pointed to documents obtained through a freedom of information request showing Mackenzie shared some contents of a report and details of its release in advance with the union.

But Mackenzie says sharing reports is common practice and she has shared other reports with association itself in the past.
