VANCOUVER — Justin Trudeau delivered a feisty, campaign-style speech in Vancouver-Kingsway riding Sunday night as he introduced former TV news anchor Tamara Taggart as the riding’s Liberal candidate in the fall federal election.

The prime minister said that over the last three-and-a-half years people from all walks of life who invested in their communities in various ways stepped up to grow the economy, respond to the challenges of climate change and put Canada on the world stage — and Taggart is one of those people.

Taggart told the crowd of enthusiastic supporters at the nomination event that her focus is on affordable housing, protecting the environment while boosting the economy, and women’s health and safety.

Trudeau also went after Andrew Scheer, saying the Conservative Party leader doesn’t “get” that the way to grow the country and the economy is by investing in people and communities.
