NANAIMO — Moving players onto the next level is a hallmark of the Buccaneers organization, but that prowess will force the organization to look from within to make a strong post-season push.

NANAIMO – The 2019 portion of the curling season is underway with a lot of activity at the local club.

This weekend is the first major event of the new year with the Men's Rock the Ice Bonspiel Friday to Sunday.

As many as 32 teams are expected to participate.

Junior A Timbermen prepare for midget draft, name captain

NANAIMO – The BCJALL midget draft always comes up on the first weekend of the new year.

This time around the Nanaimo Timbermen do not hold hold a first round pick.

They'll pick in the second round twice, 10thand 13th overall.

NANAIMO — International hockey took centre stage at Frank Crane Arena on Wednesday night. 

The Czech Republic beat Slovakia 2-1 in a shootout in a World Junior Hockey Championship exhibition game.

VIU Mariners hockey team in second place heading to Christmas break

NANAIMO – The VIU Mariners hockey team is going in to the Christmas break in second place in the BCIHL.

They sit at 7-5-0-1, four points back of first place Trinity Western.

VIU is being led offensively by Dallas Calvin with 18 points and Brett Witala who has 17.

NANAIMO – The Senior B lacrosse season ended on Labour Day weekend at a sold out Frank Crane Arena.

The Timbermen won a national silver medal after taking the St. Albert Miners to overtime in an unforgettable final.
